Today, the City of Delray Beach held an emergency City Commission meeting where we declared a state of emergency due to the COVID–19 virus. The state of emergency authorizes the City Manager to take any and all actions deemed necessary to protect and preserve the health, safety, welfare, lives, and property of the citizens of the city of Delray Beach.
With most of the city’s planned events being cancelled, I wanted to make sure everyone stays up-to-date with any other cancellations and knows where to find accurate information. Please visit the city’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CityofDelrayBeach/ or our official city website at https://www.delraybeachfl.gov/ for the most up-to-date and accurate information on COVID–19.
It’s important during this time we continue to show compassion, understanding, and help one another. Delray Beach is one community, and we need to make sure we are working together to keep each other safe.
Questions related to COVID-19 should be directed to the Florida Department of Health COVID-19 Call Center at 1-866-779-6121 or by email at COVID-19@FLHealth.gov. To stay informed on the latest CDC recommendations to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus.
Regarding Tuesday’s Election:
We want to make sure everyone stays safe during this election. To this end, we encourage all voters to practice due diligence by washing your hands and covering your mouth when you sneeze/cough.
Please go Early Vote if you can on Saturday or Sunday between 10am – 6pm. There are three locations near Delray Beach. There are no lines and no crowds. Early voting locations are still open throughout the county today through Sunday from 10am – 6pm.
If you have a Vote-by-Mail ballot, please mail it by Saturday at the latest. You can also drop off your ballot at any of the 16 Early Voting locations in the county or at the Elections office. If you prefer not to mail your ballot and would like a volunteer to pick up your signed and sealed ballot, please contact me. It’s important that every vote is counted.
I will keep you informed of more details as they become available.
